Course Description
The 18 km-long Minami-Awa Sun Line offers a breathtaking route with panoramic views of the beautiful coastline and the vast Pacific Ocean. Along the way, there are scenic viewpoints and paths leading down to the beach, allowing for enjoyable detours as you ride.
You’ll also pass through nature areas, including small mountain passes near railway underpasses, tidal flats, and dramatic cliffs.
Caution Areas
The Minami-Awa Sun Line is also popular with cars and motorcycles, so take extra care at curves to avoid sudden encounters. Control your speed on descents. On the return trip, be especially cautious on National Route 55, which has very heavy traffic.

Highlights
The climb from the entrance of the Minami-Awa Sun Line to the First Observation Deck is long and steep. Even after that, the route continues with frequent short climbs and descents.
This course runs through the heart of the Muroto-Anan Kaigan Quasi-National Park, offering spectacular views of the Pacific Ocean. The coastline features dramatic cliffs, white sand beaches, and tidal flats that shift in appearance throughout the ride. The turnaround point, Takegashima, is also a well-known hub for marine leisure activities.
