Course Description
This course is designed for visitors to enjoy the traditional performing arts and craft of Tokushima, including Otani pottery, indigo dyeing, Awa Ningyo Joruri (puppet theater), and Awa Odori (dance performance). We encourage everyone within Tokushima Prefecture to participate in this course, as they will not just see but can experience making their own Otani pottery and indigo dye.

There are many cars on the road, so ride carefully and obey traffic signals.
Challenging Sections
The road is mostly flat and there are no steep hills. Crossing Awa Shirasagi Bridge and Shikoku Saburo Bridge may feel long to complete if the wind is blowing directly in front of you.
Highlights
This is a cultural sightseeing cycling course in Tokushima. You can enjoy the grandeur of the Yoshino River and participate in hands-on cultural experiences. Otani pottery is a type of ceramic ware with a history of about 230 years. At the Awa Jurobe Yashiki, you can see displays of Awa wooden puppets and watch performances of Awa Ningyo Joruri (traditional puppet theater). The Awa Odori Kaikan features a mini museum where you can learn about the history and culture of Awa Odori, and you can also enjoy live performances held every day. Indigo dyeing, known internationally as “Japan Blue,” is a traditional color symbolic of Japan. Both Otani pottery and indigo dyeing offer hands-on workshops, so be sure to make a reservation and give them a try!

Parking Lot (Start & Goal)
Roadside Station "Itano" serves as the base of this course. There are many kinds of local specialty products for sale at the farmers` market. There are also a restaurant, bicycle rental service, and a dog park. After you complete the course, cool your feet off at the footbath. If you plan to use the parking lot, it is next to the bus stop.
