Course Description

This course allows cyclists to fully enjoy Naruto and Tokushima. There are many viewpoints and sightseeing spots along the course. Enjoy the scenery and sightseeing while cycling. After reaching the goal, try some local gourmet food around JR Tokushima Station.

Caution Areas

Be careful when descending from Uzu-no-Michi as the slope is steep. When crossing Awa Shirasagi Bridge and heading towards JR Tokushima Station, ride safely as you will be entering urban areas.

Challenging Sections

The course is generally flat, but the distance is a little long, so take breaks along the way. Depending on the season, the road along the sea and the Awa Shirarasagi Bridge can be windy on some days.

Highlights

This course follows the Naruto–Tokushima Cycling Road, aiming for JR Tokushima Station. Right after the start, you can take a commemorative photo at Chidorigahama Beach with the Onaruto Bridge in the background. In Tokushima City, enjoy sightseeing at famous spots. The Tokushima Prefectural Museum of Literature and Calligraphy features a Setouchi Jakuchō Memorial Room, including a study modeled after her retreat “Jakuan” in Sagano, Kyoto. Kenchopia is a rare urban yacht harbor found in the city. At the Awa Odori Kaikan, you can enjoy Awa Odori dancing all year round.

Parking Lot (Start & Goal)

Start at Onaruto Bridge Uzu-no-Michi Walkway. From a height of about 45m, you can look down at the whirlpools in the Naruto Strait, one of the world`s three biggest whirlpools (entry fee required). There are bicycle racks at the goal, JR Tokushima Station, making it convenient for cyclists. It is also convenient place to transport your bicycle on trains or buses if you put it in a bicycle bag.
