Course Description
The 18 kilometers long Minami Awa Sunline course offers a panoramic view of the beautiful coastline and the majestic Pacific Ocean. On this course, there are observation decks and roads that descends to the coast, so cyclists can take detours while cycling. After finishing the course, cyclists can go sightseeing in Hiwasa.
Caution Areas
Be cautious on the curves as there are many cars and motorbikes on the Minami Awa Sunline. Be careful not to go too fast when going downhill.
Challenging Sections
The most difficult part of the Minami Awa Sunline is the uphill climb to the first observation deck. It is a long and steep slope. From the first observation deck onwards, there are many small ups and downs.
Highlights
There are four observation decks along the Minami Awa Sunline, each offering stunning views of the coastline and the vast Pacific Ocean. Take breaks at each to fully enjoy the scenery. The first observation deck in particular offers a spectacular and dynamic view of the Senba Kaigai sea cliffs. At the end of the course, you can enjoy sightseeing spots such as Yakuoji Temple, the castle town streets of Hiwasa, and the beautiful coastline that serves as a sea turtle nesting site.

Parking Lot (Start & Goal)
Roadside Station "Hiwasa" is the base of this course. The facility has a wide selection of shops and souvenirs. It also has an information desk with plenty of pamphlets about Hiwasa Town and tourist attractions in the southern area of the prefecture. The roadside station is adjacent to JR Hiwasa Station, so it is convenient for cyclists to travel with their bicycle on the train.
