Route
Course Data
Course Description
The course goes through the atmospheric streets of Mima's Temple Town, udatsu in Wakimachi, submersible bridge, and the two-story udatsu in Sadamitsu. Udatsu is a symbol of wealth, and the udatsu townscape shows the prosperity of the indigo silk-cocoon merchants at the time.
Caution Areas
Be careful on busy roads such as Prefectural Route 12 and National Route 192 as they have narrow shoulders. Around the udatsu in Wakimachi and Sadamitsu, there are many private residential houses and tourists, so please get off your bicycle and walk it.
Challenging Sections
The course is mostly flat, but the wind along the Yoshino River is the biggest challenge. The headwind and tailwind switch according to the season, so it is rare to encounter a headwind on both the way there and back.
Highlights
The middle reaches of the majestic Yoshino River are still wide and flow gently, creating a relaxing atmosphere. The submersible bridge offers a beautiful view unique to the Yoshino River. Mima’s Temple Town features a cluster of temples that evoke the charm of a small historic city. At Wakimachi Udatsu and Sadamitsu’s Two-Story Udatsu, be sure to compare the differences in their architectural styles.
