Course Description
This family friendly course takes you to Oboke Gorge and Konaki-jiji's hometown. Oboke Gorge, known as the strongest rapids in Japan, is one of the world's most famous rafting spots. There is also a rafting site along the course, so you can enjoy the outdoors all day long!
Caution Areas
The shoulder of the road is narrow on both the mountain side and the river side, so be careful of cars and pedestrians. When returning onto National Route 32 from the Yokai Highway, stop and make sure it is safe before proceeding.
Challenging Sections
The Yokai Highway`s Fujikawa Valley has a slight incline. Children and those who are not strong enough should take a break while riding. The spring water next to Konaki-jiji on the Yokai Highway is cool and pleasant, so you can stop and cool down.
Highlights
Along the road through the Fujikawa Valley, you'll find not only the statue of Konaki-jiji but also many other yokai (Japanese folklore spirits). In 2008, this area was recognized as Japan’s second Yokai Heritage Site by the World Yokai Association (President: Shigeru Mizuki). It’s a fun course where you can enjoy spotting various yokai as you ride. The contrast between the clear surface of the Yoshino River and the white rocky cliffs of Oboke Gorge is breathtakingly beautiful.
